Max Müller’s Dhammapada (1881), James Legge’s Tao Te Ching (1891), Sir Edwin Arnold’s Bhagavad Gita (1885) and George Long’s Meditations (1862). You read them as written; the oldest classics can also switch to plain modern English. Deep study adds a plain-English meaning and commentary written by us, with the translator and year.
